We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.Albert Einstein
Do you find yourself overthinking and over-analyzing when dealing with the problem? Believe it or not, there are three solutions to every problem: accept it, change it, or leave it. But what if the problem is you? What’s the solution to that? If you’re unable to accept the problem, then try to change it. And if you’re unable to change it, then it may be best to leave it.
Perpetual problems are issues that persist over time and are difficult to solve permanently. These can be social, economic, or environmental issues that seem to have no clear solution, and often require ongoing effort to address.
It’s important to remember that problems are not always permanent and can be overcome with the right mindset and approach. Having a positive attitude and looking at problems from different angles are the steps forward to finding solutions.
Often the bigger issue is not the problem itself, but rather our tendency to overthink and analyze it too much.
Are you struggling with perpetual problems in your life? Do you find yourself overthinking and leaning on others for validation? While it can be difficult to solve these problems, it may help to focus on how you view yourself first.
Listen to the newest episode of the Really Personal Podcast where two individuals explore the idea that changing the way you view yourself can be one of life’s toughest hurdles.
Reminders On How to Hault Overthinking
- Step back and look at the situation you’re in: how you’re feeling, what you’re doing, etc.
- Accept and acknowledge your thoughts, don’t suppress or push them away.
- Thoughts are NOT facts.
- Replace the thought with more realistic statements.
- Stop thinking about what could go wrong. Start thinking about what could go right. Visualize it. Write them down.
- Practice mindfulness and staying in the present.
- Make a plan and distract yourself: make a list of all the things you would do like painting, drawing, learning an instrument, etc. So when overthinking, get out of that mindset with these engagements.
- Put things into perspective: ask yourself, “How much will this matter in a month’s time or even 5 years?”
- Stop waiting for perfection: It’s never as smart as making progress.
- Mistakes are inevitable. Instead of hating yourself for those mistakes, choose to learn from your failures and love yourself anyway.
The hardest obstacle is to change the way you view yourself. Be relentless in hope. When disappointment comes, when things go wrong- hold onto faith that there is more to come for you.
Mindfulness to Repeat To Yourself Daily
- I cannot give up because it gets hard or a temporary defeat.
- I am determined to succeed.
- I will face and overcome the challenges that appear before me.
- I will turn my weaknesses into strengths.
- I will turn failures into lessons.
- I can and will overcome any obstacle in my way.
- I will succeed.
